The Buzz Radio Network
BUZZLE privacy notice
Effective 3 August 2026
Kooky Inc Ltd, trading as The Buzz Network, operates BUZZLE and is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. You can contact us at hello@thebuzz.network.
You can play BUZZLE without creating an account. An optional account lets you keep your completed-game history and see it on your other devices. You are not legally or contractually required to create an account; without one, cross-device history is unavailable but anonymous play and history saved in that browser continue to work.
Information we use
- Your email address, account identifier and sign-in information when you create an account.
- Your completed puzzle number and date, hit or miss, entries used, best rank, Buzzscore, completion time and whether it was a daily or archive game.
- Security information produced by our authentication provider, which may include sign-in times and IP addresses.
- Local game history stored in your browser, whether or not you create an account.
We do not need your real name, phone number, date of birth or complete sequence of artist guesses for account history.
Why we use it and our lawful bases
- Contract: to create and operate the optional account you request, send sign-in codes, synchronise history, calculate personal statistics, support the account and carry out deletion requests.
- Legitimate interests: to protect BUZZLE and its players, prevent abuse, diagnose faults and maintain a reliable service. We use limited information because these activities are necessary to operate the account service safely.
- Legal obligations: to respond to data-protection requests, complaints and lawful requests from public authorities.
We do not sell player information. Creating an account does not sign you up for marketing, and account information is not used for marketing without a separate choice.
Who handles it
Supabase provides account authentication and database hosting. Netlify hosts BUZZLE and its secure server functions. Google provides the dedicated Gmail service used to deliver BUZZLE sign-in codes and may process the recipient email address, message and delivery or security information. We give each provider only the information needed for its role. We may also disclose information where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not otherwise share account information with advertisers or data brokers.
International processing
Our providers operate internationally, so account information may be processed in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, the United States and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate. When personal information is transferred outside the UK, we use an applicable UK adequacy regulation where available. Otherwise, we require an approved safeguard, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, together with the assessment required by UK data-protection law. You can request more information or a copy of the relevant safeguard by emailing hello@thebuzz.network.
How long we keep it
- Local game history remains in that browser until you clear the browser’s BUZZLE site data.
- Your account identifier, email address and cloud game history are kept while your account remains open because they are needed to provide cross-device history.
- The sign-in code expires after one hour. The secure refresh cookie can remain on a signed-in device for up to 30 days and is removed when you sign out or delete the account.
- When you delete your account, its cloud history is deleted from the active account database. Limited backup, delivery and security records may remain until overwritten or deleted under the providers’ documented retention schedules, or longer where needed to investigate abuse or meet a legal obligation.
- Correspondence about privacy or account requests may be retained for up to three years after the request is closed so we can demonstrate how it was handled.
Your choices and rights
You can play without an account, sign out or delete your account. Depending on the circumstances, data-protection law may also give you rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to our use of your information, and to receive information you provided in a portable form. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object; we will stop unless we have a compelling lawful reason to continue.
Account & privacy
To request a copy of the information linked to your BUZZLE account, email hello@thebuzz.network from the email address used for your account. We may need to verify your identity before supplying account information.
Cookies and local storage
BUZZLE uses local browser storage to remember completed games on that device. If you sign in, strictly necessary secure session cookies keep you signed in. Optional analytics or advertising storage will not be introduced through the account feature without a separate decision and the appropriate notice or choice.
Automated decisions
BUZZLE does not use account information to make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Complaints
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
